I've described my work that way for years. Timberlea Consulting is the structure I finally built around it.
I started Timberlea Consulting after twenty years working where technology and business actually meet: for the government, BlackBerry, and banks. Two decades in, one pattern kept repeating. Small and mid-sized businesses face the same questions the big ones do, AI, security, aging systems, too many tools, but without the budget for a big consulting firm. Timberlea Consulting exists to close that gap.
Most of the work is remote, so where you are doesn't matter much. A business in BC or Newfoundland wrestles with the same tech questions as one down the road from me in Halifax. My roots here are a grounding, not a ceiling.

I designed and built AI assistants used every day by more than 23,000 staff at a Canadian organization, saving the work of more than a full-time employee in the first year alone.
Microsoft Copilot
I led the launch of Microsoft's AI assistant, Copilot, for 500+ people: the business case, the rules, the setup, and measuring how it actually got used.
Developer tools and security
I led the launch of AI coding tools and security software across a team of 100+ software developers at a regulated organization.
Twenty years of judgment
Two decades building and launching technology in places where it had to work under real scrutiny. I've lived with the consequences of these decisions, not just read about them.
Community
Outside the paid work, I coach my kids' soccer team and serve as a community member on a research ethics board. Earlier in life I was a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters. Different chapters, same instinct: show up where you can be useful.
